Tania Freimuth is a fine art photographer and cinematographer whose practice is rooted in a deep engagement with light, observation and the emotional resonance of the image. Working across photography and narrative fiction film, she is interested in the ways images can shape perception, evoke atmosphere and reveal the extraordinary within the everyday.

As a cinematographer Tania has collaborated with directors to create visually distinctive and emotionally resonant work. Her credits include the award-winning feature Verdigris, directed by Patricia Kelly, which won Best Independent Feature Film at Galway Film Fleadh 2023 and Best Narrative Feature at Kerry International Film Festival 2023, and received five nominations at the 2024 IFTA Awards. The BIFA-nominated documentary The Contestant, directed by Clair Titley, has been broadcast on BBC Four Storyville and released internationally.

Recent credits include The Dinner Plan, Forever Home and Happy & Glorious, starring Jane Asher.

Tania's photography has evolved from the instinctive observations of street photography and photojournalistic storytelling towards sustained, project-based bodies of work. Her practice explores individuality, solitude and loss through space and stillness and considers our perception of the world around us, using restrained compositions to transform the familiar into the unfamiliar.

Her ongoing bodies of work including Oubaitori and The Weight Of Space.

Alongside her creative work, Tania teaches and mentors emerging filmmakers at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is committed to nurturing thoughtful visual storytellers and helping to shape a more diverse and inclusive screen industry.

She is a member of BAFTA, the GBCT and Illuminatrix, and is a Canon EMEA Pro Ambassador.
